Colin's Birthday

I know I should have done this as the first post, but I knew that it would take a little longer, so I'm doing it now.

Colin turned 1 on September 2nd. I left the camera beside my bed the night before because I wanted pictures of him first thing the morning of his birthday. I heard him waking up on the monitor about 7:45, so I jumped up and grabbed the camera and quietly went into his room. He was so cute when he saw that I had the camera. He just started grinning.

Chris woke up about an hour later so we decided that we wanted Colin to be able to open his gifts from Mommy and Daddy on his actual birthday. He wasn't too interested in the unwrapping phase, but he absolutely loved his new toys, especially the Ming Ming play set. He pressed the button on it over and over just so he could hear the theme song and dance. Another one of his favorites was the Thomas the Train flash light. He was fascinated with the wheels.

His party was on Saturday, September 6th at my mom's church. Chris, myself and Colin, and my parents got there early to set up everything. It was a little hectic trying to get everything "just right", but we did it. Chris's sister Amanda was in charge of taking the pictures and she did a great job. She captured every moment of the party. Everyone started arriving at 2. We let all the kids run around and play for a while. I had bought a bunch of beach balls before the party and we blew them up beforehand. This ended up being a great idea. The kids loved them and each child took one home. Once they played for a while we put Colin in his highchair and sang happy birthday and gave him his cake. He wasn't sure what to do with it at first, but once he got the first taste, he didn't want to stop. He had cake everywhere!! We had to take him to the kitchen, put him in the sink and hose him off. Then we opened his gifts. We had him sitting in his highchair and I opened the gifts, let him hold them as I was getting the next one, then my sister, Crystal, took them from Colin so he could get the next one. It only took Colin a few times to figure out the process and once he did, my sister wasn't fast enough. Colin would go to hand her the card/gift and if she wasn't ready he would just drop it in the floor beside the highchair. Everyone seemed to get a kick out of this. Colin was exhausted after the party. By the time we cleaned up and everyone left it was 4:30...way past his nap time. We hadn't even gotten out of the parking lot and he was passed out. The camera was in the back so I had to take the picture with my cell phone.
